Dontel is a graduate of Southern Illinois University School of Law, and was drawn to LCLC having grown up in North Lawndale. As a black criminal defense lawyer, working to fight against injustices is personal for him. It started when he was unlawfully searched by two white police officers at the age of eleven where he felt powerless. He wants to empower young black men and give them a blueprint to reach their goals. He is motivated by his colleagues and family.
