Shannon graduated from the Loyola University Chicago School of Law with a certificate in Child and Family Law. She was a Civitas Child Law Fellow and competed on the Constance Baker Motley Mock Trial Team. Prior and throughout law school, Shannon worked at a Chicago residential treatment facility with young men ages 11-21 to provide therapeutic support and holistic services. Shannon has worked with the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services in compliance and policy development, with legal aid organization, Ascend Justice, as an advocate for survivors of domestic violence, and as a guardian ad litem in the Cook County Child Protection Division. Shannon is passionate about the intersection of social work and legal advocacy as a method to deconstruct systems of oppression. She lives in Chicago’s Homan Square neighborhood with her partner and dog. Outside of work, Shannon enjoys comic books, cooking, and caring for her houseplants.
